Purgatory
I always look a the time that I spend in Kuwait as something akin to purgatory. I've been waiting for a flight into Iraq for a week now. It has been pretty boring and a little frustrating. That is time I could have spent at home.
Such is life though.
I posed the quesiton to my boss to find out what I would be doing in Iraq. It seems to me that I'll be the guy to make things run smoothly, do my bosses job when he's not there and work on training Iraqis. I'm sure the training part will be the how to not the doing. I will also work with the COMSTRAT fusion team. I do not know what that means though so that might be interesting.
What I worry that all translates to is errand boy and admin bitch. We'll see though.
The one plus to all this is that a week of my deployment has already gone by. I'm tax free and getting the special pays. No replacement for my wife, but it is nice to have.
This one won't be going on Facebook, because my boss is on there but it will be forever in Xanga's warm embrace.
Cat don't spam me with 500 comments again. You're Xanga hates mine.
Oh Kuwait is hot and I'm sure Iraq will be hot also.
I hate the desert but love dessert.

I did not know what you were talking about until I looked at the last entry. That was pretty odd. Which boss is on facebook, again? (Oh, and if you talk to his peeps- I am totally not buying that Gen. Odierno is maintaining his own page. First rule of social media is, if you have no role in updating your own blog, you should not have a blog. If it's not social, it's not social networking. (Actually, first rule is don't post pictures of yourself hammered/puking/posing suggestively with a cardboard cutout of anyone you work for. But faking a blog with nothing but press releases that happen to mention you posted by your staff is definitely a close second).
